About This Position

The Tax Accountant will be responsible for assisting in the overall tax compliance and planning function of TKC Holdings and its multi-state operating companies. The Tax Accountant will prepare sales and use tax returns, monitor deadlines, and develop processes to streamline various tax reporting requirements for the operating companies. The Tax Accountant will have the opportunity to gain valuable tax experience and work along-side experienced tax professionals in a collaborative and fun work environment.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file Sales & Use tax returns
  • Reconcile Sales & Use tax accounts
  • Assist with external Sales & Use tax audits to minimize potential tax audit liabilities
  • Address any sales & use tax deficiencies with the appropriate locations to ensure future compliance
  • Maintain the journal entries and general ledger sales & use tax accounts
  • Provide regular guidance to business units on sales tax rules; stay current on changes in Sales Tax regulations
  • Communicate with state, county and city level departments of revenue to interpret various tax collection, remittance and licensing questions
  • Retrieving and responding to tax notices
  • Other duties as determined by the needs of the business

What You'll Need

  • Recent Graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 0-2 years of multi-state sales/use tax experience
  • Prior Tax Experience is a plus
  • Ability to respond to and resolve various tax notices from regulatory authorities
  • Ability to develop and implement a functional tax process
  • Ability and willingness to multi-task in a fast paced environment and meet multiple deadlines
  • Must be a quick learner and self-motivated
  • General business acumen and analytical problem solving skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced, growing environment
  • Strong proficiency with MS Excel is required
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
