Job Description

This professional information technology position spans a wide range of in-depth support activities to ensure the proper configuration and functioning of the member-owned desktop computers, network servers and the connectivity between systems.

This position will provide the primary onsite technical support to specific MOREnet members within a geographical area of Missouri who have subscribed to the for-fee service, tending to technology support needs in person following an agreed-upon workday schedule for each member organization. A high degree of interaction with people is involved; therefore, sound customer service principles must be applied while fulfilling the technical competency function. Work requires a wide breadth of experience and ability to effectively provide high-level support to the member organization, including technology support such as: troubleshoot and resolve problems with member-owned workstations, laptops, peripherals, wireless, classroom technologies, network servers, etc.; perform hardware and software installation, configuration, coordinate with member decision leaders to budget, plan for and deploy network upgrades and enhancements to best support ongoing technology requirements.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

* Provide overall network management and support for identified member organizations, ensure adherence to strategic goals and applicable guidelines and regulations in coordination with member administration staff

* Provide advanced technical support on desktop configuration and management and work with other MOREnet technical teams to ensure the desktop software will function within the existing and planned setting. Includes providing support for Google Admin and Group Policy. Monitor changes to the desktop configuration and ensure compatibility with other systems.

* Work with onsite staff as needed to provide in-depth hardware and software troubleshooting and maintenance on computers. Plan for and schedule application of security patches, driver updates, and other updates during maintenance windows. Clearly document desktop system configuration changes.

* Respond to computer security and virus incidents to ensure system integrity. Isolate and repair or rebuild compromised machines/images as needed.
Develop, maintain, and distribute complex software images (Windows/iOS/Chromebook) required for use in the organization and system replacement initiatives. Build, maintain and catalog multiple images.

  • Install, configure and administer business and classroom software to support the organization. Perform onsite/remote software management of desktop computers or servers. Deploy software applications, security patches, upgrades, and fixes. Generate accurate inventory reports of technology assets.

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

In appraising the relative qualifications of candidates for all levels, consideration will be given to the extent and type of experience with various information technology functions and to the extent and type of pertinent education and formal training. At the time a job opening is posted, the hiring department will specify required knowledge and skills pertaining to specific technologies/software/equipment.
Broad range of LAN and desktop knowledge skills
Expansive knowledge of desktop/workstation hardware/software/operating systems (configuration and connectivity).
Excellent technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of networks, network topologies, and network file servers, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniques.
Familiarity with systems administration and security principles.
Familiarity with enterprise management technology for Windows and Macintosh platforms
Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, Google Admin and O365/Exchange.
Familiarity with installation, maintenance, and support of wireless technologies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills sufficient to interact with a variety of users and other technical staff.
Strong customer service skills.
Proven experience in a similar role within an educational and/or public library setting

Preferred Qualifications

Strong knowledge of educational technology trends and best practices.
Proficiency in school district/library system administration, network management, and troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of educational software packages and systems typical in an educational setting
General knowledge of E-rate stipulations and guidelines and how they relate to the supported organization. Strong knowledge of educational technology trends and best practices.

Anticipated Hiring Range
