About the Role

Global Trade Compliance Manager with Focus on U.S. and Americas Import and Export Compliance is located in our Advanced Technology Center in St. Louis, MO and is responsible for ensuring compliance with regional import and export trade laws and regulations, with a global view. This position will develop, lead, implement and maintain initiatives relating to the execution of global trade compliance initiatives necessary to maintain acceptable levels of compliance, risk avoidance, cost management, and instill mastery throughout the business in region.

The Global Trade Compliance Manager oversees Watlow's adherence to all pertinent U.S. and Americas trade laws, working closely with U.S. agencies like CBP, BIS and DDTC and ensuring compliance with all applicable import and export related regulations. Additionally, this role is responsible for overseeing import and export compliance across North, South, and Central American countries, ensuring a thorough, regionally-applicable approach to trade activities.

Your Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate within a unified global trade compliance team, integrating efforts with our central enterprise team in the US and encompassing regional global trade compliance teams across EMEA, APAC, and LATAM.
  • Manage and enforce compliance programs adhering to U.S. trade regulations while liaising actively with relevant government agencies.
  • Navigate and ensure compliance with trade regulations in North, South, and Central American countries, adapting strategies to various regulatory environments.
  • Develop, implement, and refine trade compliance policies and strategies that cater to both U.S. and broader Americas' distinct regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead the regional compliance team, imparting expert knowledge, and ensuring adherence to U.S. and international trade laws within the Americas.
  • Establish and maintain robust relationships with regulatory bodies across the Americas to ensure up-to-the-minute compliance with all emerging trade policies and regulations.
  • Provide continuous education and training related to U.S. and Americas trade compliance for internal teams to foster a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and minimum of 7 years of experience in global trade compliance, with a strong emphasis on U.S. and broader Americas compliance management.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Expertise in U.S. trade laws and regulations.
  • Proficient knowledge of trade regulations across the Americas and experience dealing with various regulatory bodies.
  • Proven leadership, strategic planning, and robust communication skills.
  • Must be able to keep knowledge and subject matter expertise current.
  • Defense industry experience.
  • Semiconductor industry experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Industry certifications, licenses, and active participation in global trade, facilitation, and compliance community.

This role requires access to controlled technology and is exclusively available to U.S. citizens. Eligibility is contingent upon successfully passing a background check, ensuring no U.S. Department of Defense or Department of Energy security clearances have ever been denied or revoked. Additionally, dual citizens must obtain specific U.S. government authorization to be considered for placement.
