Description
POSITION: Art Therapist Contract Position- part time

DEPARTMENT: Gillis School

Salary: $25 - $30 Per Hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and facilitate group sessions as determined by program guidelines.
  • Complete expressive therapy screenings on all clients in a timely manner.
  • Monitor progress toward treatment objectives by evaluating and adjusting services provided.
  • May train and engage staff in facilitation of group activities.
  • Maintain agency credibility by establishing working relationships with sponsoring, advisory, and related service agencies.
  • Complete all documentation requirements within agency timeframes.
  • Promote the agency by ensuring an understanding of program services available for clients; publicizing activities and accomplishments; adhering to a professional code of ethics.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in workshops and continuing education; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Contribute to team effort by consulting with other professionals; accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Keep equipment organized, inventoried and maintained.
  • May create and maintain activity calendars/schedules.
  • Participate in all assigned meetings, staff development, and training as required.
  • Participate in regular supervision (which may include direct observation).
  • Adhere to programming needs as determined by the program manager and residential director.
  • May engage in the training of clinical and field practicum students from local universities.
  • Responsible for budgeting and ordering equipment to perform essential duties.
  • May assist in grant writing efforts to raise funds for programming.
  • Must function within the rules, policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires:

  • Education Level: Bachelors or master's degree in a related expressive therapy field (Music, Art, Drama, Recreation)
  • Other preferred requirements: Specialized certification, i.e. CTRS, MT-BC, ATR, RDT, MAADC II
  • Years of Experience: 1 to 3 years
  • Ability to read and write reports.
  • Computer literate and a high knowledge of a variety of computer software.
  • High level of verbal/written communication skills.
  • Certified in CPR/FA and behavior management techniques.
  • Demonstrate awareness/understanding of cultural and ethnic diversity of clients, staff, and other community partners
  • .Must be at least 21 years of age and pass background check, physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver's license and proof of current vehicle insurance.
