Apply a variety of protective coatings to interiors and exteriors of freight cars and parts.All work performed must meet current AAR and quality assurance guidelines and requirements.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Clean, mask, fill and coat interior surfaces and associated areas of freight cars
• Spray or brush information on cars such as identification, capacity, principal lettering
• Touch up lining defects and make repairs as necessary
• Cut, alter, repair stencils as required
• Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs
• Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours
• Ensure AAR quality assurance standards are met
• Follow all safety rules and procedures
• Interact with crew members and supervisors in a team environment
• Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner
• Comply with the established safety policies and support continuing awareness for safety
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Knowledge of paint, spray guns, air line, spray tips, mil gauge, respirators
• Must be able to climb and work from ladders and work in confined spaces
• Eye-Hand coordination
• Attention to details

Required Experience / Education / Training / Certifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent is desired
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Prior paint experience is a plus

• The environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid and dusty conditions
