Job Description

The purpose of this job is to inspect inbound and outbound instruments to ensure the quality of the inventory from the vendor and to the customer. This position performs customer set up requests prior to shipping and evaluates damaged merchandise to determine if it is cost effective to fix or return to the vendor as flawed.

  • Conducts performance tests on new and returned instruments to evaluate their sound quality and identify defects upon arrival and prior to shipping.
  • Repair and recondition new or used instruments as required. Polish instruments using rags, compounds, buffing wheels, and burnishing tools to return instruments to sellable stock.
  • Record and enter serial numbers and other instrument data into inventory software for site exposure.
  • Performs customer returns and disposition of returned goods and grade them appropriately for the Open Box Program.
  • Work with vendors to obtain additional and replacement parts for instruments.
  • Other duties as assigned, such as maintaining current product knowledge on new developments in the industry.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES
* Entry level, zero years of relevant experience
* Intermediate knowledge of guitar and bass set up and repair

The person holding such a position may also exercise supervisory responsibilities, but not on a regular and ongoing basis. Work is performed under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor, who reviews the completed work in order to assess the degree of judgment and compliance with standards.

  • Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit, occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

Equipment Used:

  • Standard warehouse machinery and equipment as well as personal protection equipment such as closed shoes, gloves (provided and recommended, but not required), black belts (provided - required for lifting over 25 lbs.), and harnesses (provided - required depending on type of powered equipment).


Work Used:

  • Warehouse environment, subject to moderate temperature changes. There are minimal health hazards due to working on or around a forklift.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Use of various glues and solvents, buffing wheel, soldering iron and drills.
