Summary
Have you wanted to use your passion for gaming to recruit and coach collegiate Esports?

University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP) is seeking an assistant esports coach to begin immediately. The ideal candidate will have coaching experience at the college level, specific game title experience, have a well-rounded knowledge of gaming skills and should be able to instruct and evaluate student-athletes. This position is primarily focused on instructing student-athletes in how to perform their game. Secondary duties include supporting the head coach in aspects of recruiting, team travel planning, practice planning, team management, competition streaming, and other athletic department duties. This is a salaried, year-round position that is benefits eligible and requires a significant time commitment.

For Esports, the participate in the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), National Esports Collegiate Conferences (NECC), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), Collegiate League of Legends by Riot Games (CLOL), and Collegiate Valorant by Riot Games (CVAL); and for all other sports, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) sports as a member of the American Midwest Conference. UHSP intercollegiate sports teams include men's and women's basketball, bowling, golf, soccer, cross-country, track and field, volleyball, Esports, co-ed competitive cheer, men's baseball and rugby, and women's softball and lacrosse.


Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. In lieu of a bachelor's degree consideration may be given to candidates with some college experience and substantial work experience coaching
  • Prior collegiate level playing experience strongly preferred
  • All-around knowledge of competitive online gaming, including strategies and skills, as well as a solid comprehension of game analysis, scouting, and recruiting
  • Prior coaching experience strongly desired, particularly at the collegiate level. In lieu of collegiate coaching experience, high school or club coaching experience or demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach gaming (and/or specific games) is required
  • Must be eager to recruit; prior recruiting experience preferred
  • Professional and leadership acumen: ability to learn University rules and regulations regarding Esports athletics competition
  • Excellent communication with players, recruits, and parents; understanding the demanding academic climate at UHSP; ability to assess student behavior / athletic ability; appropriate behavior befitting an empathetic authority figure in a university setting
  • Driver's license and transportation for off-campus practice facilities
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach necessary skills for the sport (and/or specific games)
