Wagner Logistics, a Top 50 Third Party Logistics company and one of Inc. magazine's 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the U.S., is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the Facility and Equipment Maintenance teams. As the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for administering and improving equipment and facility maintenance programs focused on TPM techniques in a logistics and warehousing environment. Key aspects of the position will also include developing, teaching, and coaching maintenance personnel in progressive maintenance practices as well as striving to reduce maintenance costs and downtime.
Additional opportunities in the role will include supporting the organization with contractor and vendor management, new equipment analysis, standardization, continuous improvement and thought leadership. The Wagner maintenance department is responsible for providing both local and remote maintenance support for warehouses across the U.S.
The ideal candidate will have logistics or warehousing operations experience, knowledge of lean-six sigma and/or continuous improvement concepts, and total productive maintenance techniques. Some experience in process analysis will also be useful. However, none of these are requirements.
This position will office at our company headquarters located in North Kansas City, Missouri. Up to 10% travel outside the KC Metro area may be needed to support other facilities. The normal shift is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm with other hours as required by specific projects. The Maintenance Manager will report to the Director, Business Solutions & Engineering based at headquarters in North Kansas City, MO. Direct reports include three maintenance supervisors and seven maintenance technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
  • Manage facilities and equipment maintenance activities through the CMMS
  • Ensure safe working conditions and proper work practices are employed
  • Develop and implement maintenance metrics to drive improvement in maintenance effectiveness and efficiency
  • Report various maintenance metrics on a monthly basis
  • Utilize data to drive decision-making processes around repair vs. replace questions
  • Develop, train, coach, and lead maintenance personnel
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is being performed in a timely manner using proper work practices
  • Maintain registration and licensing of company vehicles and equipment
  • Perform vendor management for contractors, machine vendors, and suppliers
  • Provide pricing quotes for new equipment
  • Benchmark best practices
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration
  • Provide project management support
  • Promote continuous improvement culture
  • Stay current with evolving industry practices and trends
  • Create annual budgets for maintenance divisions and provide budgetary guidance to other divisions regarding planned maintenance expenditures
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Criminal Background and Pre-Employment Drug Test - A clean criminal history and pre-employment drug test is mandatory
  • Education (Preferred) - Bachelor's degree, vo-tech training, trade school certification or equivalent work experience
  • Certifications (Preferred) - Lean, Six-Sigma, TPM, Safety/OSHA or similar
  • Experience (the minimum level of direct experience in a similar position) - 7 years professional experience in equipment maintenance and repair plus 4 years professional experience in direct maintenance supervision
  • Knowledge/Experience/Skills -
  • Required Software: Microsoft Office Suite, CMMS systems,
  • Preferred Software: Tableau or other data visualization software, experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Ability to perform root-cause analysis using process-based problems solving
  • Ability to manage and train employees both in-person and remotely
  • Ability to interact with other departments in a service-based role
  • Ability to work on material handling equipment, transportation equipment, and make facility repairs on occasion
Travel - Up to 10% domestic travel
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Ability to stand, sit, squat, crawl, bend, twist, reach and/or kneel for up to 12-hour periods of time and repetitively
  • Exposure to varying temperatures: heat, cold, wet, damp, drafty
  • Work on concrete and unlevel surfaces
  • May be required to climb ladders and stairs
  • Work around hazardous materials and may be exposed to carcinogens, toxic, and explosive materials.
  • Possible exposure to areas with high noise levels that may require hearing protection
  • Use hands and fingers to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights
