Shift: Nights with rotating weekends (30 hrs per week)

Salary Range: $16.68+, depending on experience

Job Summary:

Assist nursing staff in providing direct patient care from the admission process, to activities of daily living (ADL's) through patient transfer and discharge.

Detailed Description:

Assist nursing staff /ancillary staff in the transfer of patients from bed to bed, stretcher or wheelchair, pickup and delivery of patient meal trays and assisting with patient feeding as directed.

Demonstrate the ability to organize workload and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a clutter free and orderly environment including prompt answering of unit telephones and accurate delivery of messages and information to patients, families, visitors, staff, and personnel upon request.

Educate and train new staff members in the responsibilities of the Care Team Associate role.

Perform other duties as delegated by nursing staff and unit management as needed in both routine and emergent situations.

Perform patient position changes, placement and removal of patient equipment, daily hygiene care, simple non-sterile dressing changes, finger stick glucose checks, may perform venipuncture to obtain a blood sample, maintain quality control checks and delivers/retrieves lab specimens and supplies as requested.

Responsible for accurate and timely entry of information into computerized bed-management system.

Responsible for prompt response to patient call lights and addressing patient needs using positive guest relations skills while ensuring patient vital signs, intake, output, height, and weight are obtained and documented as directed.

May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

One of the following:

--Completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing course within 180 days; or

--Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); or

--Experience with direct patient care such as a medical assistant, nursing assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), or surgical technician in the past three (3) years; or --Completion within the last three (3) years, or will complete within ninety (90) days, an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) training program; or

--Nursing licensure candidate who was unsuccessful on the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years; or

--Completion of a nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country.

Completion of an above qualification pathway, including patient care experience or a supervised clinical log, within 180 days is a condition of continued employment in this job classification.
