Description

Job Summary:

As a Maintenance Electronics Tech Trainee, you will get on the job training and work to attain an educational certification required to become an Electronics Tech. You will work independently and with other plant personnel to troubleshoot and repair production and facilities equipment. Also, you will perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness.

An employee evalutation will be held mid-way through completion of the educational program. Upon full completion of required courses for Electronics Tech and a certificate is attained, you will transfer to any available Electronics Tech position, which may include an off shift.

Tuition reimbursement for course work is available through Walsworth contingent of approval for tuition reimbursement application and reimbursement form.

Essential Functions:

  • Work safely and maintain a safe work environment, follow all plant and department specific safety rules, procedures and policies.
  • Problem solves equipment breakdowns and perform necessary repairs to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Instruct operators in proper care and maintenance of machines.
  • Report irregularities to department supervisor and maintenance leadership.
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment.
  • Work with outside contractors to install or modify equipment.
  • Provide skilled services to fabricate or modify machinery.
  • Do assigned machine preventative maintenance.
  • Properly enter information into computerized Maintenance Request Program.
  • Report machine parts and items needed by other departments to maintenance leadership.
  • Maintain building and grounds and all building systems as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understand DC and AC principles and components including motors, controllers and PLC's.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Full understanding of mechanical maintenance skills.
  • Hands on experience with lathes, milling, presses, welding, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interface with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and supervision, while demonstrating good judgment and strict confidence.
  • Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
  • Must successfully complete any training or certification courses required to support or strengthen position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
  • Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.
