Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Methodically inspect, service, correct, and lubricate plant equipment per manufacturer's and/or subject matter expert recommendation. Must be detail oriented and maintain accurate record of all service performed and report back in a timely manner. Must be able to perform all other assigned tasks not specifically indicated. In addition, must be able to support the mechanical maintenance team and is expected to be able to perform all functions of a Mechanic C including the below expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Maintenance

  • Methodically follow the assigned PM and Work guidelines and directions for lubrication and inspection of equipment.
  • Maintain good records of all services performed and report back any abnormalities proactively and promptly
  • Apply best practices and continuously seek ways to improve the servicing and inspection of plant equipment
  • Maintain housekeeping and organization of lubrication storage area, and continuously seek ways to improve lubricant management system.
  • Perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment as needed.
  • Accurately measure equipment components for wear, stretches, etc., (Predictive Inspection)
  • Must be able to troubleshoot, service and repair all plant operating equipment.
  • Must be able to disassemble and rebuild all types of crushing, screening, and conveying equipment.
  • Understand the installation and maintenance of all types of bearings.
  • Perform shaft alignments using precision tools.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Able to use equipment manuals, parts lists or blueprints to properly install, repair, or order parts.
  • Process knowledge of the CMMS System to ensure that work orders and checklists are complete accurately.
  • Adaptability to new methods and technology in the field of computer aided route/work management system

Inventory

  • Ensure good inventory of all lubricant, filters, and associated supplies.
  • Ensure all inventory parts are correctly charged from store
  • Ensure all parts are available before starting job.

Safety

  • Must be well versed on all aspects of safety.
  • Comply with company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Complete and document Workplace Inspections in a timely manner.
  • Ensure maintenance tools are kept in good condition, repaired or replaced when necessary.

Training

  • Upgrade skills by participating in vendor and company-designated training.
  • Train on any new equipment installations.
  • Continuously learn best practices in the field of Lubrication and Predictive Inspection

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Must be comfortable handling lubricants and apply good lubricant handling system
  • Knowledge of lubricant handling system good practices
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics to assist in troubleshooting equipment failures.
  • Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment in an industrial plant is required.
  • Read and understand one-line diagrams & schematics.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations is required.
  • Must have a telephone and be open to callouts.
  • Must be able to work extended shift to complete repairs and keep major and critical equipment running.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, managers, and peers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate a computer preferred.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license.
  • Self-Starter and able to work with minimal supervision

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Occasionallylift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ year experience in the field of lubrication and mechanical maintenance in an industrial manufacturing environment or the ability to demonstrate mechanical experience including some equipment lubrication practices, welding and minor equipment troubleshooting.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
