Overview

General Pediatrics

In addition to providing some direct primary care to patients in a clinical role at Broadway, the responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the oversite of APPs for both General Academic Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. General Academic Pediatric APPs provide care at Broadway and Children's Mercy Vibrant for patients from newborn through adolescence with a medical home model focusing on continuity and quality outcomes. The Adolescent Medicine APPs care for patients at Synergy, Broadway, and College Boulevard with an emphasis on providing high quality care through focused visits to the adolescent population for their individual needs.

The Manager, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) is responsible for leadership of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN). The APP Manager uses sound human resource and financial management principles and techniques to guide the provision of advanced practice services to patients and families, collaborating with APPs to set standards for care quality and safety. The APP Manager supports comprehensive patient and family services through effective participation with the inter-professional team.

Responsibilities
    Clinical Practice: Expertly provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care based on the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement.
  • Professional Leadership: Provides leadership and oversight of the advanced practice programs and activities of the practice area to support high quality care of patients and families.
  • Organizational Development/CQPI: Leads the application of new knowledge and innovation to advance APP-related improvements at the department and organization level.
  • Resources: Assures the personnel, workplace, and technology resources necessary for the provision of safe, high quality patient and family care.
  • Financial Accountability: Utilizes professional activity and financial data to assist with the APP operating budget; optimizing APP contributions to care and formulating plans for new programs or services.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree and 5-7 years experience APRN pediatric experience and progressive experience in leadership roles or
  • DNP preferred
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • APRN KS Advanced Practice Registered Nurse KS APRN license in Kansas Required Upon Hire
  • APRN MO Advanced Practice Registered Nurse MO APRN documentation of Recognition in Missouri Required Upon Hire
  • APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Director) Preferred
Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
