All About You

Saint Louis University's Department of Civil, Computer, and Electrical Engineering within the new School of Science and Engineering invites applications for a non tenure track faculty position in computer engineering. Candidates in the areas of Embedded Systems, Robotics, and Hardware / Software Co-Design are highly encouraged to apply, but all areas will be considered. The Department is seeking dynamic, collegial, collaborative, and creative applicants that have a passion for engaging and innovative teaching. Applicants should also demonstrate an excitement for improving the learning experience of students through classroom activity development, mentoring student projects, industrial collaborations, and publishing work related to these activities.

Preference will be given to applicants with a record of teaching, service, and scholarly achievement, commensurate with appointment as a non-tenure associate professor. However, candidates with exceptional potential at any level will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching - all faculty in the Department are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels; the load will be scaled to provide time for faculty development and coursework development.

  • Student mentoring - Saint Louis University strives to educate the whole person, and as such active engagement in undergraduate and graduate student mentoring is an important component of faculty expectations.

  • Participate in Departmental and School service - while non-tenure faculty are primarily expected to develop their teaching portfolios, minimum service expectations to the Department and School may be required.

  • Participating in research - through student project mentoring, pedagogy development and other collaborative efforts where expertise can be beneficial.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An M.S., Ph.D. or significant experience in Computer Engineering or a closely related field

  • Excellence in teaching as demonstrated through previous teaching and teaching preparation experiences

  • Desire to engage with SLU's mission-driven learning and outreach activities

  • The applicant must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant teaching experience that promotes hands-on, experiential learning

  • Established record of student project mentoring

  • Demonstrated ability and vision to collaborate in pursuit of enhancing undergraduate and graduate education
