Position Details

The HR Communication Manager is accountable for enhancing employee adoption of HR programs through effective communications. The incumbent will lead strategic initiatives that set the direction for human resource communications by establishing the HR brand and style guide, as well as the communications portal for content delivery. They will also manage the on-going execution of enterprise-wide communications that support HR initiatives. This role will be directly reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources & Development

Job Responsibilities:

Collaborates with HR functional leaders to develop detailed communications plans that support human resource programs and initiatives, such as recruitment, benefits, wellness, compensation, talent management, recognition and employee engagement.

Plans and maintains the editorial calendar for all HR communications activities and coordinates with enterprise Communications department

Use change management principles to build culture and communications across multiple partner groups

Writes and/or edits all HR communications materials, such as emails, web portal updates, print brochures and handouts, as well as scripts for video

Write, edit and distribute a variety of internal communications highlighting upcoming internal learning and development requirements and opportunities and explaining complex technical concepts in clear, compelling language

Serve as the liaison between the Marketing team and the Human Resources leadership team, providing collaborative guidance and advice on integrated communication strategies to build employee morale, productivity, retention, and policy compliance, with a global perspective.

Assess needs and initiate the development of all new recruiting materials that include the First Bank brand, including print and digital material, the creative side of the First Bank careers website, job board postings, employment advertisements, etc.

Provide strategic writing support for a diverse group of internal clients and proactively seek out information to gain an understanding of both content and audience; role requires strong people skills, flexibility and customer service focus

Helps create visually compelling presentations in virtual and print media including Microsoft PowerPoint

Manages multiple projects against tight deadlines

Develops materials designed to tell the People story. May include narratives, stakeholder messages and correspondence, talking points, presentations, web and social copy, assets for owned channels, speeches, etc.

Monitors relevant industry trends and HR news sources to curate ideas and articles for use in newsletters and other HR communications vehicles

Gathers and analyzes feedback on communications effectiveness and develops action plans to continuously improve

Responsible for First Bank's employer brand and ensuring it is incorporated in all communication materials used across the entire lifecycle of employees, from applicant to retiree, are consistent with brand guidelines

Develop strategies for promoting a positive culture focused on our values.

Respond to ad hoc requests for communications supporting the broader mission of First Bank

What Do You Need for this Position?

Successful Incumbents Will Have:

Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field

Minimum of 4-6 years of professional experience in a corporate or consulting setting with responsibilities for communications of human resources programs and has had to think like a content marketer

Natural storyteller with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to convey complex issues in a clear and concise manner

Strong business acumen and good understanding of business strategy

Experience developing and executing integrated communications strategies that connect with a wide variety of stakeholders both internal/external (e.g., branches, corporate, employees, etc.)

Self-starter with strong sense of initiative, focused on results

Leverages data and insights to driver greater effectiveness

Experience managing multiple, simultaneous projects and, at times, within ambiguous and undefined circumstances

Outstanding written and oral communication skills are required in the areas of print, video and/or electronic media

Strong people skills, flexibility in working with a diverse clientele and strong customer service focus

Experience with employee communications software / web portals is preferred

Experience with organizational change management

Experience guiding communication deliverables through complex approval processes

Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Experience with strategic communications campaigns, approaches, and channels

Editorial skills using APA guidelines

Critical thinker with analytical and collaboration skills

Experience building networks and relationships to produce results

Comfortable presenting information with a variety of audiences

Change Management Certification and/or Project Management Certification helpful
