Factory Manager

General Infotmation: 

Hitachi Energy is seeking a highly qualified Factory Manager for its Reynosa, Mexico location.  

The Factory Manager will oversee all aspects related to the operations of a local manufacturing unit, including HSE, Operations, & Engineering. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing various production activities to ensure the achievement of established specifications, schedules, volume, cost targets, and quality standards. The Factory Manager will lead the operational process and collaborate with cross-functional teams such as HSE, Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, Production Planning, Materials, and Import/Export Management to develop production schedules, allocate labor and capital resources. Additionally, this role will prioritize and manage production line maintenance downtime to minimize disruptions. 

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Budget Management: Develop business action plans aligned with Division/Business Unit/Product Group/Local Business Unit and Local Product Group objectives. Collaborate with the Controller and stakeholders to prepare the annual production budget, oversee progress, and take necessary actions to address cost issues and manage operations within budgetary constraints. 
  • Operational Performance: Ensure the achievement of established targets by overseeing operations and defining improvement actions as needed. Focus on key metrics and be accountable for managing annual goals for each metric as well as the overall budget. Implement lean manufacturing processes, such as GEMBA and Tiered Accountability processes, through the Integrated Transformer Management System (ITM). Collaborate with the Operational Excellence Staff to gather and review metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for local production processes. Monitor progress, lead the production team in identifying and analyzing deviations from targets, and implement corrective actions. Seek support from other functions when necessary. 
  • Operations Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve the highest level of operational performance. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, employee involvement, and open communication. Develop and lead the production team in executing plans to reduce non-value-added costs, deliver products within desired market lead times, and decrease product field failure rates. Collaborate with the Production Development Manager to integrate new technologies and lean manufacturing principles into production processes. 
  • Customer Relations: Ensure customer requirements for on-time delivery (OTD), lead time, and quality are met. Participate in the integrated business planning process to ensure the availability of appropriate labor to meet customer demands. Support Sales during customer visits by explaining manufacturing capabilities. Take ownership of production-related issues in the customer complaint resolution process (CCRP) and serve as a resolution owner for assembly methods, processes, and equipment. Maintain regular and timely communication with customers regarding overall lead times and on-time delivery statuses. 
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental directives. Work with the HSE Leader to implement regulations, assess risks, and develop plans for people and equipment safety. Monitor progress, report results, and drive a work culture that prioritizes safety and avoids complacency. 
  • People Leadership and Development: Organize, staff, and direct the responsible area of the organization in collaboration with HR support. Guide, motivate, and develop direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies. Establish training requirements and monitor progress for all production staff. Actively coach and develop talent within the team.

Your Background: 

  • Bachelor's Degree; emphasis in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing) preferred.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior-level management position. 
  • Experience in management of a Maquiladora manufacturing facility, and experience with facility start up as an added benefit. 
  • Experience in Process Engineering or Quality Management is a plus. 
  • Training and implementation experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. 
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations. 
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts to senior-level audiences. 
  • Change Management experience. 
  • Proven track record in developing high-performing teams.
