Data Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Perform data engineering activities on some of the most cutting-edge projects in the industry and working with Big Data tools. Perform activities, including architecting data systems, standing up data platforms, building out ETL pipelines, writing custom code, interfacing with data stores, performing data ingestion, and building data models. Support the assessing, designing, building, and maintaining of scalable data platforms that use the latest and best in Big Data tools. Perform analytical exploration and examination of data from multiple sources. Work with multi-disciplinary teams of analysts, data engineers, data scientists, developers, and data consumers in an agile, fast-paced environment that is pushing the envelope of bleeding edge Big Data implementations.

Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with developing ETL pipelines and data manipulation scripts

-2+ years of experience in using structured query language (SQL) and working with modern relational databases, including MySQL or PostgreSQL

-Experience with modern programming languages, including Java or Scala

-Knowledge of Big Data systems, including Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Impala, or Cloudera

-Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and communicate with multiple functional groups

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Agile software development

-Experience with NoSQL data stores, including Accumulo, HBase, MongoDB, and Cassandra

-Experience with Big Data ETL tools, including StreamSets and NiFi

-Experience with enterprise and production systems

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-BS degree in CS, Information Systems, or a related field

-Hortonworks, Cloudera, or Big Data Certification
